Since I came to the States in February to work for NASA I climbed at a couple of really classic areas like Bishop and Joshua tree. Sill, this is the first update of my USA stay because the name of the climb - Illegal Alien - made me apprechiate even more that I have the opportunity to live and climb here in California: Legally! I am a legal alien.
What' really special about the Mt. Baldy School boulder ist not only their proximity to L.A. but also the very special rock (crazy looking gneiss). The setting is equally nice:
[Sunste and moonnrise over the Mt. Baldy range. Friction is getting good as temps are starting to drop.]
No way I would have ever found these boulders without my friend Medvis who kindly took me along to chare one evening of bouldering and trying Illegal Alien, V10 or 7c+.
[Medvis sticking the first big move into an open-handed, bad pinch.]
I was lucky enough to wait for cooler temps and steal some beta from Medvis so I was able to get the problem on my flash attempt.
[Funky moves on funky rock: Illegal Alien has it all - open-handen, slopy and crimpy.]
[Isn't this great!? Full moon and full throttle bouldering at - during the last hard move of Illegal Alien, V10.]
Thanks for the support, Medvis!
And don't forget to watch the video!
